About Kris
Kris hails from Virginia, where she lived just long enough to acquire a southern accent so that she could be teased by misanthropic children when she moved to California at the age of six. After many years in the San Francisco Bay Area, she surprised her LA-hater friends by transplanting to the southland, where she now happily resides in Pasadena. Three delightful kids and a cantankerous, elderly pit-bull lab make up the rest of the Calvin Clan.
Kris’ day job is Chief Executive Director of a statewide, 5,000 member pediatric association. Among her duties she is charged with analyzing hundreds of state legislative proposals each year related to children’s health and well-being so that pediatricians can decide which ones to support and which to oppose. In that capacity, Kris has been honored by both the California Legislature and past Governors as a leading child advocate. In return, she has found state legislators and bureaucrats a terribly interesting bunch– their ideas for new laws and policies can delight, enrage and entertain. Most importantly, they have provided ample fodder for the fictional murder attempts required for Kris’ newfound passion of writing political mystery and suspense novels.
You are likely to find Kris at regional mystery writer conferences, in the halls of the Capitol in Sacramento, at vintage and thrift stores and baseball games. (She has been to 13 major league parks across the country, and hopes to make it to all of them!)
